UNESCO-listed basalt enclosures. Low stone walls called currais protecting each vine from the Atlantic wind. The volcanic cone of Mount Pico rises behind. Austere. Mineral. Unlike anything else in the box.
Each vine in an individual crater of volcanic ash, protected by black lava walls. The vines survive on moisture the volcanic soil absorbs from night air. It tastes of ash and mineral and something without a name.
